Dora the Explorer

Dora the Explorer

Dora the Explorer is a television program that when it first came out was very popular. It was speculated by many parents that this would be a very short lived program. This was not because of violence or language or any other reason other than because the star of the program was a Latino girl named Dora.

Dora the Explorer is A Wise Choice for Children’s Viewing

Parents speculated that the viewing public would not repeatedly allow their children to watch a Latino show. When I, the mother of six children, first heard this I was outraged. I was so outraged because that is such a racist thought. Who cares if the girl is white, Latino, or purple with green polka dots, if there is a character that children like and can learn from why stop it.

Dora the Explorer sets a good example

Dora is a very wise choice for parents to allow their pre-school children watch. She is polite, has a good set of values, is always helping others, and can teach your youngster Spanish. She does not promote violence and never uses questionable language.

As a mother of six children ranging from the ages of one to eleven, let me tell you, I closely watch what my children are watching on television. Dora is one of the few shows that I will allow on at any time. Granted, it is usually watched during the week when the older children are at school, but if the older children liked it, I am positive that the show would be on all the time.

Dora is a friend for your child that will grow with them. If your child is a boy, check out her cousin’s show, Go Diago Go. It is just as good and also teaches your child as it entertains them.

Dora the Explorer is Created by NickJr

Dora the Explorer is a program that was created by the people at Nick Jr. It is a television show that is geared at the preschoolers and particularly to the girls. I am not saying that it is not for boys or that they do not enjoy it but it was made with the girls in mind.

About Dora the Explorer

Dora herself is a seven year old girl of Latino origin. She lives with her parents and her twin baby brother and sister. She has a good strong family value and is a very adventurous individual. That is where the name of the show comes in.

Dora the Explorer's Adventures

Dora the Explorer goes out on adventures. She and her best friend, a quirky little monkey named Boots always have somewhere they have to go or something they have to find. They always consult with the map to find out how to get where they have to go.
Dora is a character that will help anyone with anything. Boots and Dora’s other friends are much the same way. Then there is the shows bad guy. There is a sneaky fox named Swiper the Fox. As his name indicates he is a Fox. Not just any ordinary fox but a sneaky mischievous fox.

Dora and Boots, while on their adventures, always must keep an eye out for Swiper. He is always trying to steal or swipe their goods or possessions. If Swiper is successful, then Dora and Boots get off track because they have to take the time to find whatever it is he swiped.

Dora the Explorer is Educational

Dora the Explorer is an educational program. It teaches preschoolers about honesty, sharing, and Dora also helps to teach your child Spanish. Some people think that she really does not teach children any Spanish but let me tell you as a mother of six children of which two of them absolutely adore the show, she really does teach children some Spanish.

Dora the Explorer Teaches Children Spanish

Dora has not only taught several of my children some Spanish but it has also taught me, a women in her thirties that never knew any Spanish a few words and phrases. Dora the Explorer also was the first place that Diego, Dora’s cousin, was introduced. Go Diago Go is the star of Nick Jr.’s show Go Diego Go, Nick Jr.’s show for boys.
If your child has not seen Dora the Explorer, let them sit down and watch it. It really is an educational show that kids love because it is fun.

Dora The Explorer and Diago

Meet Dora's cousin Go Diago Go He's a great partner to Dora in her adventures. He helps his parents at the Animal Rescue Centre and can even make animal noises and talk to the wild animals. You can count on Go Diago Go to run, swing and jump to the rescue of any animals in trouble.

Dora the Explorer is a television show that children fell in love with from day one. Dora is a fun loving adventurous little girl that pre-school girls seem to love. The neat thing is that the show Dora the Explorer places such a high value on family, it tends to rub off on the children that watch it.

Dora, her friends, and her family go about their daily adventures and are always trying to help each other out. Among her family, her cousin
Diago was also a character that children loved. Children loved him so much that the creators gave him his own spin off show called Go Diago Go

In his show,Go Diago Go and his sister Alicia go through the rain forest and help animals on their way. Their mission is to assist the rain forest animals that are in danger. Just like Dora has Boots to accompany her on her adventures, Go Diago Go also has a companion. His companion is a Jaguar. His Jaguar, Baby Jaguar, as Diego calls him and Go Diago Go are always on a mission to help any animal that cries for help.

Like with the Dora the Explorer show,
Go Diago Go also has friends along the way that help him on his rescue missions like Click the camera. Click actually locates that animals calling for help. There is also Rescue Pack a messenger bag Diago transforms into any object that he needs.

It is obvious from the reaction of the public that the shows are progressing in the right direction. I anxiously await the next new show on Nick Jr.
